Discover the true Facts about Solar Energy and turn your city Green.

Here we discuss Facts about solar energy usage, systems, plus sun related and other Interesting Facts about Solar Energy. All of which will help you with your decision whether or not to install a solar energy system at your home and make your city Green.
Perhaps you'd even like to save yourself a lot of money and build your very own solar energy system.

General facts

• Solar Energy is better for the environment than traditional forms of energy.
• Solar energy has many uses such as electricity production and heating of water through photovoltaic cells and directly for drying clothes.
• Solar energy can also be used to heat swimming pools, power cars, for attic fans, calculators and other small appliances.
• It produces lighting for indoors or outdoors.
• Solar Energy is becoming more and more popular. The worldwide demand for Solar Energy is currently greater than supply.

Facts about Solar Energy usage:

• Solar Energy is measured in kilowatt-hour. 1 kilowatt = 1000 watts.
• 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) = the amount of electricity required to burn a 100 watt light bulb for 10 hours.
• According to the US Department of Energy, an average American household used approximately 866-kilowatt hours per month costing them $70.68.
• About 30% of our total energy consumption is used to heat water.

Sun related Facts about Solar Energy

• Sunlight travels to the earth in approximately 8 minutes from 93,000,000 miles away, at 186,282 miles per second.
• The sun is also the main source of non-renewable fossil fuels (coal, gas and petroleum), which began life as plants or animals whose energy came from the sun millions of year ago.
• Solar energy is responsible for weather patterns and ocean currents.
• Clouds, pollution and wind can prevent the sun's rays from reaching the earth.

the problem is that of PV produces energy when not needed and large production facilities "industry" are not only disfiguring, but they create ecological damage.
Moreover, the construction and the cost is close to the yield, but you can not reduce costs for the cost of raw materials... Is it convenient?? better with biomasses, or solar for warm water!!!!

Only if people use it... See my blog for links and further info about the FREE solar rental networking business opportunity!
I believe that solar IS the number 1 viable alternative and renewable energy source available to reach a mass market at todays technological standards and perhaps tommorrow's as well. At this point the best way I think to counter any possible adverse effects of Solar panel manufacturing is to make sure that they are properly maintained by professionals and have an easily accessable system in place to insure the recylability of the materials for any equipment that gets to the point were it is no longer restorable. After that is technological improvement of the equipment. Beyond solar I believe that perhaps the only likely reneable energy source that would be more powerful and that could eventually be made to reach massive populations.
would have to be the harnessing of ambient and focused radio frequencies, which exists throughout the entire known universe and is itself produced largely by stellar radiation, among other sources, including our own em noise. That process would only be limited to the methods we would use to harness and or generate radio and em energies. I think we are not yet capable of doing this at a scale that could outpace the potential of solar production. So in the meantime I am working to help bring about a massive switch to solar power in residential markets by partnering with an mlm based company that is circumventing the cost issue for consumers by giving them the option to RENT solar equipment rather than being limited to buying and maintaining the equipment themselves... I think solar energy is very good for the planet. It is clean energy as there are no by-products such as carbon monoxide, soot particles, etc. The sun's energy is very clean. The only problem is that it is not utilized enough. I believe it will be used more from now on, as the call for alternative energy sources is very strong.

I believe very much is solar power. Our next house will have solar and wind power and we will sell the excess energy back to the grid.

Though I dont think that solar energy will ever completely take over from more traditional forms of energy rendering use, I do believe anything that slows global warming down, is always a good investment for the future of humanity, in regards to a cleaner environment.

Of course it does. However I think is not competitive yet with wind power. Hope in the future costs will be reduced

Fossil fuels are getting scarse. We dig deeper and deeper to get the last drops as our economy is presently based on this commodity. Regardless of environment.
Until recently research in renewable resources was curbed in order for the black gold and its owners to keep on making riches.
We, as a race, have difficulties to let go of our confort, habits. One thinks "It is not my pollution which will make it worse" but when millions think and act the same, even milliards, the whole planet is getting an unlivable place for many disappearing species.
It is only recently that Arabic Emirates which are producing a lot of petrol are turning their eyes to the solar energy. I saw a documentary on some prototype for solar islands being tried by a Swiss company. I saw a few years back an interesting car working with solar energy. More and more there are wind turbines blooming as well as solar panels. Many progresses have to be made fast in order to meet our ever increasing needs.
I thank the writer of this post and many of the comments are also very informative. I a bit wondering about the extensive use of aluminum as it seems there is a correlation between this metal and alzheimer disease...
