Hidden Charge's

This is my first post on this system. I am Bob, retired from truck driving and trying to make a little money on the web.
I am finding as I am sure you are that all on the web is not on the up and up.
I won't name names but early November I ordered something, 10 or 12 dollars. All was ok untill I get my credit card bill and find another charge on it for a membership, 29.95. I call them but no one answers, only message machine, I leave message. a few days later a lady calls and she says she will cancel this membership I paid for and stop the montly charge of 29.95.

December comes around and I get a email saying they have charged my credit card again so I try to call but same thing, Machine! Six days later and no call and finally the charge is posted on the credit card account.
Today I call credit card and they take care of it.

How did this happen? How much money are these guys making by doing this even if they only get one months payment? On one site I looked really hard for something about a membership and finally found it hidden in the terms and conditions.

I guess the reason I am writing about this is, we - you and I - are running a business amongst some people that are a little less than honest and we have to be very careful that we don't mislead others.
