Hey gang. It has been snowing forever up here in Kelowna and everything is buried under 3 feet of snow. I pretty much can't drive anywhere (except down to the mailbox to see if anybody loves me) because where I live unless the snow plows come by I'll never get out of my neighborhood even though I have semi good tires on my Mazda.

Well when I say semi good I mean they're all seasons but at least new. Yet when it snows like this I'm a little hooped. I can't go very far.

All I can do is hang around the house and wait for things to happen and gawk out my front window.

But hey I can watch some of my neighbors whip around the neighborhood in their big SUV's,Trucks and Hummers with their big snow tires. Burning donuts and grinning. I hate that.

And I can also watch people walking their dogs with big leashes( so they can poop on my lawn) and looking happy about it. I don't know what so fun about winter and dog walking. I hate this ritual too.

And shoveling my driveway. I must of done it 15 times in the last week. I need a bigger shovel and a new pair of gloves. For sure I have come to hate that.

And I'm pretty sure deer hate snow. There are quite a few roaming around my area. I saw one at six in the morning yesterday looking for something to eat. But everything is under 3 feet of snow. He went away hungry with a "this is pointless" look on his face.

And I'm pretty sure the police, ambulance attendants, and tow truck companies also hate snow. I've seen too many ugly accidents lately. Nothing funny about this.

And I'm starting to hate Christmas music. Especially Shania Twain and Celine Dion. They're both Canadian and so am I. So I can hate them if I want to. Shut up already both of you.

No I can't really think of anyone that likes snow. Except maybe skiers, snow board freaks, snow mobilers and ice fisherman,. And you guessed it. I hate them all too.

But maybe I'm getting a little stir crazy. Maybe I'm the grinch and this is "whoville" Maybe I should settle down and just be thankful for a house, food, hot coffee, Christmas lights, my computer, my guitar, my beautiful wife, my kids and my health.

But on second thought why does it have to SNOW so much. I hate snow!

Lance, you know why I hate snow? It melts... It drips off the roof and covers the driveway, my deck, my rainbarrels. The snow that sits on my Mustang (with no all-season tread tires), melts. The snow that the snowplow left on the street, worse, pushed into my driveway that I just shoveled, melts. Oh, you're thinking this guy is nuts...he hates it when it melts?

You know where I'm going with this don't you Lance, or don't you get sun in Canada...well in California I get it a lot and after it snows, it melts. It melts all day. It starts in he afternoon and doesn't end until the sun hides behind the trees...Then watch out!

IT FREEZES!

Yes, it turns to ice. All over my driveway, my deck, my rainbarrels, my gutters, my shovel I left out in the snow berm that the plow left me 'cause when the sun came out and I had to go put on some sun screen, then got distracted because it WASN'T SNOWING! Oh, the berm...it's now ice! My car, it's ice.

Oh, Lance...I love snow and I wish it would just stay snow. But, it doesn't. It will melt, freeze, melt and the sun will shine. It will probably snow again, melt, freeze, melt again and the sun will come out. The next day the sun will come out, and the next day, and the next day, and the next day and the next day, the sun will be there; burning hot, drying everything out, baking our desert, warming our beaches, hot, dry, sun EVERY DAY!...and I will be missing snow.

I remember God's promise...The Climate WILL Change! Hallelujah!!!

Hey Lance,
Can't say I disagree...that's why I moved to Florida!!!
When all is said and done, it's all about quality time with family and close friends.
I am in Massachusetts for the holidays, and snow is better seen in pictures!!!
Blessings...Dominic

Lance,

I know what you mean. when we moved from the north, I was pretty happy about it. We had 83 degrees here in Dallas around Christmas time. Put on some shorts and a T-shirt and went and saw, "Marley". Great flick.

Have a GREAT day,
Warren

Hey Lance,
A white Christmas! How divine! We have been melting here in sunny South Africa - enjoy your snow sitting by the fireplace reading a book etc.. I almost envy you!
Take care

Hey Lance,
You think you've got problems? I moved from Chicago to sunny Las Vegas to get away from the snow. Period. I'll bet I hate it more than you! Anyway, did you catch the news a few weeks ago when we had a blizzard here in Las Vegas? 6 inches of snow! That was a record for Las Vegas. It has only snowed a couple of times since I moved here 15 years ago and it always melts in a few hours. We still have snow on the mountain tops today! And whats even worse, I was out of town when it happened. I missed the Las Vegas event of the decade! I called a few friends to make sure they took a picture of my house with snow. As for today - it was 60 degrees and sunny. A magnificant day. (Sorry, I just had to rub it in :). Sounds to me like you have a case of cabin fever. The best remedy this doctor can think of is to go cuddle with that wonderful family of yours! You're right - that's all that really matters anyway. Wishing you warmth, no snow, and many blessings for the coming year. Take care.
P.S. Check out my eBook...it will give you something to do while you wait for the spring.
