When it comes to the internet there are loads of free tools out there. Some are average, but others are great. Here are the five tools that have saved me money and worked wonders on my business and life.
1)
Google Docs
Whether I am sharing with my employees or just sharing with myself this application seriously does the job. Think of it as a trimmed up web version of Microsoft Office. Since you can access your spreadsheets and docs from anywhere with web access, it has definitely saved my butt a few times when I needed vital information while away from the office.
2)
Mozy Online Data Backup
This is great for automatically backing up key folders on your desktop computer without having to worry about plugging in an external hard drive. Their free service gives you 2GBs. This may not sound like much, but it will take care of all of your major documents on your desktop.
3)
Open Office
I describe this as a gift from above for rapidly expanding small businesses. For those of you that do not feel like shelling out $400 for each Microsoft Office authorization code, this is a great alternative. My businesses have saved close to $200,000 in fees over the past 4 years just by switching over to Open Office. It does all the same stuff without the logo and without the cost.
4)
Freebie Force
This is a simple but great service that allows its members to get everything from free hotels to free flights. You can even get free gift certificates to places like
The Limited.
5)
Log Me In Remote Computer Access
A great alternative to the pay remote pc services. Another life saver that can keep you from having to run back to the office in the middle of the night. It allows you to log into your computer from anywhere with internet access.
These are my top 5. What is one of your favorite free tools?
