Are you protecting your personal and business information effectively?

Are you taking the necessary steps to protect personal and business information? Safeguarding your sensitive data in your files and on your computers is just plain good business. For anyone using a PC for running your business, online banking and storing vital data need to protect your PC.

When my company moved into our new office and starting setting up our computers I made it everyone's business in our office about making sure that each and every PC was uploaded with a virus protection.

You need to protect yourself, as well as your customers who you may have vital information within your database. Keeping your systems protected will help protect your business.

Make sure your virus protection is updated, and working properly!

There are several reasons/ways a hacker can harm your PC:

  • identity theft
  • internal data theft
  • online fraud
  • e-mail spam and scams
  • computer viruses
The internet is continuously evolving folks, and malicious activities as well as attacks are elevating at a rapid pace. Most attacks are unfortunately targeting users those who are not fully educated about the basic online security principles. But for those who want to take online security safety in their own hands I strongly recommend installing virus protection.

Computer viruses are as common as colds these days and according to the National Computer Security Association, over 200 new viruses are created every month and close to 7,000 computer viruses have been identified worldwide.

Prevention is not difficult. Ultimately, it will cost you far less to buy anti-virus software than it is to enlist the costly services of a data recovery company. Trust me, you don't want that!

It is always a good idea to follow safety rules:

  • Use and update anti-virus software regularly. Scan newly received disks and files for viruses, including newly bought shrink-wrapped diskettes.
  • Scan before shutting down your PC
  • To avoid a boot virus infection, don't leave CD's or disks in your computer drive.
  • Keep the anti-virus software activated. When downloading files from the Internet, download to a disk-not your hard drive. Scan the disk before any files are put into your system.
By following these simple rules you will be ahead of the game.
