So you have decided to join yet another social networking site! So many of you have joined every one that has come around the bin and you go in...blast your link to everyone that you possible can, you get told off a couple of times and then leave to go find the one that "works" and I am here to tell you that if you use them right, they ALL work. Even MySpace can still be used if you know what you are doing.

See, people seem to feel that the Internet makes things so that you don't have to act like a real person having a real conversation, but that could not be farther from the truth...

Ask any of the people you see in this community that are using this site to successfully promote their businesses. They are not profile jumping and saying "Look what I am doing..LINK LINK LINK BLATANT PITCH..LINK LINK LINK..." You get the idea...and you also know who you are.

See people who actually KNOW how to use these sites...the people you actually DO want to build relationships with on these sites will delete your comment and email so fast you may not even be done typing!

I personally had to set my comments to "approve first" because so many people were just coming in and spamming my page...and they did not even TRY to get to know me. I mean I am personally a little picky as to who I want to work with in business, but obviously people like that are after one thing and one thing alone and that is your $$. I mean not all of them may be, but don't you think that is how it comes across?

You really should take a look at what people who are successfully using this site to network are doing. Do what they do. Be genuine and get to know people. Pretend you are out and about and that these are REAL people that you want to have a conversation with...I mean you don't have to hear theirs or tell your life story and ask them how their kids are doing, but at least communicate something with them that shows a genuine interest.

It is the same thing as listening more than you talk...ask more than you tell, and don't just wait to talk...and in relationship to these social sites...ask and listen...don't wait to give out your link!

Would you like help learning how to properly promote your business online? I am willing to help! I teach people how to brand themselves and their businesses online. I have been an Internet Marketer for going on 8 years now. I have made a lot of money online, and people make it so much harder than it is. I have not even been effected by this economy. How would you want your income to be recession proof? All you have to know is how to promote your business and brand yourself. Yes it is that easy!!!!

Send me a message and let me know that you are interested and we can schedule a free consultation. Have a Happy New Year!!! Lets make 2009 your best year ever!!!

Hi David, Great stuff. I too had to set my comments to approve because nothing gets my finger on the delete button faster then hey, I've got what you need. Umm, No you don't because you don't know what I need.

It got so bad that I wrote an ebook this month called Pursuing the Dream or Chasing the Nightmare. My goal is to help people reach their dreams. I know if I'll put other people's interests before mine, I'll reach my own. Thanks for the tips, I'll be revamping all my social sites in an effort to learn how to effectively network in 2009.

Hi David sure I can always use some additional advice. I am so busy setting up my blog and recently I have been trying to generate more traffic for my primary biz op and I have been working with so many opportunities that it sometimes gets a little over whelming for me. I agree with you 100% its about relationships and working alone as I do it is hard to get everything done and on full disability no less. I am trying to learn the latest strategies to increase visits to my blog. I get lots of visits but still no sign ups. If you are up to the challenge of working with someone with a little experience. It would be an honer for me to get your professional opinion. Thanks for asking. No link here Gerald Loomis

David, We are definitely like minded. I also just wrote an article about business social networks saying the same thing.

Dave...dude! That is EXACTLY how sites like this are meant to be used. I have been a member for a few days now and your comment is the ONLY one I have approved! The rest have been people who just indiscriminately cruise in and post their pitch on every new member's site. I want to meet real people with a genuine interest in getting to know me and then do my best to help them...and I would like to receive the same in return.

Thanks for setting a good example Dave.

Jim
