I was disheartened this week by the number of individuals that had been impacted by layoffs and are in fear of the future.

To make matters worse the press seems to making a feeding frenzy out of the situation. In a conversation with my investment broker this week, he stated that a well known newscaster advised him that when conducting news interviews, they encourage him in his earpiece to make things controversial.

There is no denying that we are officially in a recession. History shows that recession and depression are cyclical. This one certainly is no different. The economy will recover.

History also shows that during the great depression there was the greatest transferance of wealth !

That is very exciting news that I am grateful to report. I am also grateful to be a business owner/leader in an industry that has seen substantial and continuing growth. The $13 billion self-help/personal development field that I hold so dear through my recovery from gambling addiction.

I am grateful for the opportunity to teach others to do the same. Take matters into their own hands and not be dependent on companies that have not looked after their own.

I am no Zig Ziglar or Donald Trump. If I can do it you can too! I am happy to help.

Other things that have been helpful in this environment of change include giving back and serving my local community. I am grateful to be in that position and when we help others it makes our troubles seem smaller.

I read a statistic this week that indicates for every $1 we spend in our community-owned stores (as opposed to larger chain stores) 68 cents is returned back to our local communities. For every $1 we spend in larger chain stores 38 cents is returned back to our local communities. Well, you can certainly do the math.

Worldwide statistics show that as long as we have a roof over our head and some food on the table, we are doing much better than 69% of the world. That number I confess rather surprised me. I am grateful.

My long term vision is to fund a home for women and children in transition. I am grateful to be working toward that each and every day. I have found that when I remain in an attitude of gratitude things work out best that way. And when I focus on my purpose and vision the 'how' appears provided I take persistent action.

I encourage and challenge you to ask yourself this question. Will you be one of the individuals that will be the receiver of the great transferance of wealth?

I believe You will ! Please let me know how I can help.
