Tips for Completing Your Social Networking Profile Page

Here are a few tips that I have learned on creating my own social networking profile page. I have no doubt done my share of mistakes but hope to change that while helping others at the same time.

Once you are registered with a community, you should be able to start communicating with other members immediately but before you do, you should consider completing your online profile page first.

Every social networking site gives you a personal page that usually has a blog to post content to along with several other features that allow you to add pictures, videos as well as links to your own business/website.

Although it may seem easy enough to create a profile, there are some things you may want to consider when filling out your profile in order to set the best first impression possible with your visitors as well as keeping in mind your safety.

One of the most important things to include in your online profile page is your picture. Your picture rather then just a graphic is ideal because it helps gain peoples trust in you.

In addition to your picture, you will want to include your name. If you prefer, only your first name is perfectly acceptable or a pen name if you feel the need to be more cautious.

It is also a good idea to add where you are from but this is where you should use more caution. I would suggest only putting the state or province you are from and not your actual city or home town if the social network you are a part of does not require you to do so. There is no need to ever put your address in your profile page unless of course it is a business profile where you hope to get offline sales.

You then want to include information about yourself, your hobbies, important issues, your likes, dislikes etc. Many social networking sites have preset fields for this information and there are even some fun questionnaires you can add. When you do fill these sections out, keep in mind, you don't have to get into specifics but just enough information so people can begin to relate to who you are and make a decision if you are someone who has similar beliefs, values and goals before adding you as a friend.

Last but not least, you will want to add some great content for your visitors/readers in the text area or the blog section of your profile page. This content can be pretty much anything, but keep in mind that the best content Entertains, Educates and Inspires.

By keeping the above mentioned points in mind, you are creating an online social networking profile filled with your basic profile information as well as some good content all while staying safe. Whether you are socializing just to make friends or for business purposes, your safety should be considered as you try to gain internet popularity in the social networks.

Blessings and Success,
Lori

PS. Feel free to add me as a friend. I would love to get to know you and network with you.
