What is the Number One Key to Success?

I was recently on a company webinar that focused on the "why" of the business instead of solely focusing on the "products" or "elements" of what the business sold. Many agents were confused as they wanted to learn more about the products.

Well - the reality is, product knowledge falls into 3rd place when it comes to the top three keys to success. There are two keys to success that are far stronger than product knowledge in determining how much success anyone will have at any business venture.

Whereas the number 3 key to success is indeed product knowledge, the number 2 key to success is goal setting, focus, commitment, and action.

The number one key to success is...

Passion! Defined as enthusiasm, excitement, and a deep conviction of the product and program.

Passion is hands down the number one key to success in any business. It is what will keep you driving forward when the going gets tough. It is what fuels your fire of wanting to share with others and help other people. True passion cannot be contained, and people will not only see it, but they will sense it from every fiber of your being

This is exactly the reason many people fail to succeed BIG in their business -- because they are not a product of their business. If you do not personally own or use the products your business sells, it is virtually impossible to develop the deep-rooted passion for the product that is so incredibly vital for your success.

Please remember one very important thing each and every day, and if you do, you'll be so successful you won't know how to handle it. Passion (enthusiasm and deep rooted conviction) is far more powerful than Knowledge.

Passion is wonderful .. that is a plus ..
Conviction is the other
Vision is crucial ..
Imagination is also a good one....
In the realm of any new business.. one has to make a million mental "hypothesis" and like a thousand pages of spreadsheets.. to think , to rethink, to be reflective (think back, externally) and be introspective (self directed, inner directed) .. and make a list of questions like ..
Why am I in business ?
What do I want ?
How can I be making in over the others ?

Make a list of at least one hundred questions , by you or by others .. and then try to answer them the best way you can ....

A few hints -- if you think you are still in that predator/prey mode -- like the old "winner take all" and to outpace or to eliminate ones competition -- than you maybe wasting your time.

If there is a cinch of hope for the future -- Let Wall Street serve us all -- the end of an era of amoral and immoral capitalism... when someone is cooking the books -- just like Enron, just like the rest of the "bimbo" companies -- When CEO and CFOs cooked up funny numbers to draw huge salaries -- yes, be critical :) When bankers become "imaginative" and "creative" -- the public is screwed...

Independent thinkers is what makes a good entrepreneur --- by not only being creative, but in such a way where your business will not be detrimental to others-- you have to find that niche.. when you do, build on it like a "Lego" game and do that "imaginary" pyramid .. and ask yourself those questions. Both internal search as well as external revision and comparison.

There are many many opportunities are out there. But you need to think it all out and find what is out there to match what you have ?

I wish all the "newbies" entrepreneurs all the best. And by asking questions and seeking collective answers. there will be results :)

One has to try to remove most of the so called "corporate" toxic behaviors . By me, most of the Corporation or Incorporations, taken by the Latin roots of that -- were all wrong. Most of the infighting in the many departments making In-corporation more like De-Corporations-- where arms and legs are de-linking one and the other... Remember, the real spirit of any entrepreneur is that - one has to be multi-task, from the "image" of an executive, to the janitor of your own office toilet and empty garbage. Test yourself if you can be humbling yourself that you can do all that .. from high post to menial labors of your own company. Yes, humility is a virtue. If you can not humble yourself to learn --- you will not move forward. I still remember the day when I burn my platinum card -- American Express. Now I named them American Excess :) or American depress :) and we have now only debit cards. Paying the usury rate of any credit card is insane.

I think the key to success is to have the right tools to be successful. This can be for your business. You would need to build a list, use social networking and video marketing. Same concepts apply to everything you want to succeed in. This can be a career you want. Lets say a teacher, the tools are a excellent college education, degrees, skills and strategies for teaching. This is for anything you want to succeed no matter what it is!

Be true to yourself, what you believe, what you stand for and what you value, then you cannot fail.

Passion is certainly a key factor, however as Marie Tucker stated, passion can ebb over time. With passion, knowledge, etc. there must be the commitment to NEVER quit in the pursuit of your dream. Absolute commitment is a necessity to success. I believe the popular number is that somewhere around 97% to 98% of people quit in pursuit of their goals. We as humans have a tendency to build a foundation, start on the walls and then quit before we put the roof on. We work hard though, we are off building another foundation.

I believe you have the right job when you don't feel like what you are doing is work and you have no problem getting out of bed in the morning to start off your work day.

Reading Napoleon Hill, John Maxwell, Zig Ziglar and others, I am inclined to say the #1 key is persistence. But in my daily reality, passion feeds persistence and vice versa. They function in tandem.

Great post! Thanks!!
