What Will You Do To Improve Your Advertising?

Advertising is the lifeblood of any business, whether it's online or offline.

All advertising isn't created equal! Some advertising sends in a trickle of traffic, others are a little better, some don't deliver at all, but the good news is that there are a lot of advertising avenues both online and offline that delivers what they promise.

As an advertiser you need to identify those advertising avenues that delivers what they promise, then advertise consistently in the advertising source you've chosen.

Why consistent advertising is necessary

Consistent advertising is necessary because people are inundated with advertising. Every day you see over 3,000 ads that seem to come at you from every direction. You see ads on T.V., in the newspaper, on your computer, billboards, on vehicles, on the windows and in the rest rooms of various businesses. You hear them on the radio as you commute to work, or travel.

How do you get through the "jungle of jingling jargon" to your audience with your message?

You need to advertise consistently wherever you choose to advertise! Work diligently to find what advertising works for you. Then advertise consistently to receive the greatest return on your investment.

Get Attention! Whatever it takes, use a "dancing frog" to gain attention, whatever it takes! Look what the gecko has done for insurance. Of maybe a "cave man" is that unique attention-getter you need to draw attention to your advertising message.

Get creative, think outside the box, or hire someone who can come up with that unique idea that differentiates your business or web site from all the rest.

Make advertising priority #1 for your business!

Too many times business and web site owners get too busy with daily tasks to take significant time to plan their advertising to make it more effective, or to advertise at all!

Do you delay advertising for the following reasons?

* You haven't decided to advertise this month, because advertising and all it entails, takes time away from running your business
* You've decided to use your money for advertising to pay other bills
* You postpone the appointments you set to meet with account executives who want to meet with you, because you just can't face making that decision on where to advertise
* You don't want to think about what to put in your advertisement.

Business and web site owners procrastinate for all the "excuses" above and many more.

Don't play "Barney Fife" and shoot yourself in the foot with "excuses", arm yourself with all the reasons you should advertise then spend enough time to plan well, or get someone that is well qualified to consult with you or hire someone to do it for you. Advertising is that important!

Hit your target market with the best advertising you can find, then keep hitting your audience like a boxer in training with that old "onesy twosy" punch, ad after ad, until customers are banging at your door like good "crazed" shoppers should be shopping.

Circulation is important but only if you are reaching your target market. An even better choice for your advertising is circulation that is constantly increasing.

Make your decision now that you will make your advertising priority #1 for your business!

Success in the fastlane is that you slow down enough to advertise smart, by thinking intently about where, when and how often you will advertise. Then just do it!

Keep that "life blood" of advertising flowing to keep your business growing!

Thank you Joan. I think that advertising is crucial but it needs to stand out from the crowd by not being a sales pitch. Providing valuable content is key. Keep up the great posts my friend.
Take care Joan.

How will people hear of you if you do not advertise. Even car magnets while you drive around town. You want people to realize you are existing and advertising is the way to do it. Now where are the good places to advertise is the question.

YOUTUBE, youTube, and oh yea YOUtube. Nothing is better than my own private infomercial. Then I place that video on all my sites. I like TV and this is as close as I can get without buying my own station.

Good example CLICK here.

My form of advertising is simply "getting myself in front of as many people as possible in as many creative ways as possible so that those people who are looking for what I have to offer can find me."

I'm not in the convincing business; I am in the relationship business. My goal is to create a presence online to attract those who are in alignment with what I am offering.

It is a joy to connect with those who are already looking for me.

I have a fantastic blogging system that I use (with 2 blogs) to get indexed in the search engines quickly and organically (often within 2 hours), so that is certainly a great benefit.

Many blessings for your prosperity and well being.

What's working very well for me is to Advertise by Not Advertising. I put a signature link to my website, http://www.explore-oil-pastels-with-robert-sloan.com in on every post I make on forums anywhere. I post a lot online. But I don't refer to it often or give it a hard sell. I do put a lot of good free articles on it with accurate keywords and analyze them to be sure that the keywords are mentioned often enough that search engines are satisfied the article really is on that topic. They are all real. Any checking by human beings reveals an 80+ page topical site with lots of good free information.

So this is the free samples method of advertising. By the time I am selling a good art instruction book, I will have a very large core readership who knows me by name and knows I write welll in art instruction. Plus the site brings in revenue from very targeted well chosen affiliate ads. I don't just use any affilaite based on its profitability. I select only the affiliates relevant to the topic I'm writing about and trust that people are more likely to index those ads as useful -- just the same way that I do when I am reading artist magazines and see an ad for a new type of paint or brush or something.

So if you're looking to buy advertising somewhere -- write ads that give good information for the readers to compare your product/service with others, everything they need to know about its benefits to them, give plenty of hard facts and descriptive detail. Then place those ads on websites where the traffic is already on topic for your service or product.

I would cheerfully affiliate an entrepreneur who'd invented a new plein air box or something else that would be useful to my readers. But I have no interest in women's shoes or baby clothing or health aids or male potency aids and my readers are there to look at art topics, get free art instruction and sometimes to buy a product I've reviewed. I do independent reviews of products too and this helps my ad revenues because it doesn't matter to my revenues which brand they bought -- but it matters to them after I've described and compared all the brands of oil pastels I could get hold of, which one is right for exactly what they do with them.

The more targeted your advertising is, the more effective it will be.

Thanks for the post. For me the overwhelming thought of "where to advertise" keeps me from actually getting my business advertised.

Right now I use a SEO service called TransWorldNews (www.transworldnews.com) and also list our services on relevant directories. Participating in message boards and forums can be extremely time consuming, but they do have impressive benefits. Over the last 2-3 months I have seen traffic to our site increase to the point where our servers crashed and we had to upgrade them. Our Alexa ranking also spiked.

Good afternoon everyone! Thank you for allowing my input on the advertising subject.

I own 3 ad exchanges so of course I advertise on my three and many others constantly. I also advertise on traffic exchanges and a few social network sites. Since I've only been working online 1 1/2 years now and this is where I started so they have been the most part of where I advertise everything.

Reading this subject and interacting with like minded people only opens the options wide open for new ideas from others!

Regards,
Denise
