What's the point of writing a blog and approving comments?

I am really wondering why I get emails asking me to come read and comment on a blog in order to get into the drawing to win cash and after hitting the send button on my comment I get the message that my comment has to be approved first.

Funny. I thought the whole point was to get us all to read and comment on the blogs, chance to win the cash or not.

As a person who runs blogs and websites I realize that sometimes people don't agree with me and say so in the comments. I think this is a great opportunity for my own growth.

Of course now and again someone just wants to post a link and promote their own stuff.. I use the delete comment button for that situation.

As a writer I don't always get people who just love everything I have to say. I like it that way, it keeps me on my toes.

When someone disagrees I get to think about what I said and what I really know. I can make a choice to comment back and have a conversation or perhaps write another article or blog post.

I don't approve comments before they show up though. It doesn't seem to make people want to comment on the article if they know they are being "approved" before their words have the same value as the person's words they are reading.

My take.. do you agree or disagree??? Perhaps we can have a conversation about it..

Smiles,
Donna
