Why are you not succeeding using Social Network Marketing?

So why are you not succeeding using Social Network Marketing to build your business or sell your product?

That is a great question! I am going to tell you why. There are a list of very strict do's and don'ts when it comes to Social Network Marketing and when you do not follow these rules and guidelines, you will NOT succeed!

So what are you doing? Are you going out all over every Social site you can find and adding all the friends that you can, and then trying to mass message them with your link to their life changing opportunity?

Maybe you are going from page to page and leaving them a link on their comment section. You may be doing this manually, or you may be doing it with software, but no matter HOW you are doing it, you are doing it wrong in this case!

I have touched on this topic so many times now because it seems that people just don't want to believe me. They want to think that people are just going to jump over themselves to get to their website because you told them that what you have is the best new opportunity of 2009! Well you HAVE to stop thinking this way if you want to have any success at all.

Do you know that I average about $1000 per week using Social Networking? That is money in my pocket. Now mind you it takes some work because I am always on these sites working, but when I was shingling houses 8-12 hours a day I was breaking my back, so I don't feel right calling it work so I will call it consuming some time...

When I am on these Social sites consuming time, I am doing it by building real relationships with people. I am not looking at them as my own personal Billboard that I can just paste my link upon and hope for the best. Did you know that when you do that...the person on the other end is actually a real person??? Sometimes I wonder if people actually realize that.

I joke around sometimes about it even because it just floors me that people think that they can talk to people as if they were robots who just click and pay, click and pay, click and pay...but they are not!

I always use this analogy, and any of you who have been on my list for awhile know this one...imagine if I were to visit you in your home, and as soon as I sat down the first words out of my mouth were:
Hey you! I know that you don't know me, but I am trying to build my business because I have a brand new product that is on track to be the #1 selling product in 2009 and it is going to change your life and revolutionize the health industry. There is also a way for you to make money just by sharing it with a few friends who do the same. Here is my link [LINK HERE]. Now go check it out! Bye.....
Now how effective do you think that would be? Now granted, out of thousands and thousands of people I may get one here or there, but when you look at the time it is taking me compared to the $ I make on one person signing up, I bet if you divided it by the hour you would be making less than $1 an hour...and I mean WAY less!

See in order to do social networking right, you HAVE to build relationships with people. You have to get to know people before you can even discuss business because people DO NOT get into business with people who they don't feel they can trust...this has been proven time and time again!

There are other elements to this as well...because if you are going to use Social Networking you need to understand that this is THE SLOWEST method of building your business that there is. If you are looking for mega success using ONLY Social Networking, then I am sorry to tell you that you will be disappointed. Especially if your product has small to no fast start sign up bonuses...because of the work that you put in, compared to what you make when you finally get someone is a HUGE factor.

That's why you have to take your product and company into consideration as well when you are using Social Networking. See I average about $1000-$5000 per sale so when I get one, it pays off big so that I can justify the time that I spend working on these sites...however if you have a product that pays you a $25-$100 fast start bonus, you would be putting in a LOT of time for a small payout and that is not a very smart business model.

Now please do not think that I am telling you to quit your business and just give up because that is not what I am telling you at all. I am just telling you the facts so that you can be realistic and know what to expect. If you want to make money and have 5-10 years to wait for it to grow considerably, then that is absolutely fine. It sure beats the 40 year plan! But if you want to make money right away then you need to look at what you are doing.

Now remember...this post is only for those of you that are using ONLY Social Networking to build your business. If you are doing that plus other methods like Google, then this does not really apply to you. It does, but not as much...

But what you need to do is evaluate the hours that you are spending on any Social sites then take the number of people who you signed up doing that work. Now multiply the amount of your fast start bonus (if you have one) by the number of people you signed up. Now take the hours that you spent working on these sites and divide it by the money that you made and you will have your hourly rate.

What did you come up with? Now I know MANY of you reading this are looking at a big fat $0 because you have not made any sales...and that is OK because you just don't know what you are doing!

So lets make a list here.

The Top 10 Do's and Don'ts of Social Networking:

Don't:

  1. Promote a product with a small payout
  2. SPAM People's in boxes and comment sections
  3. Use friend adding / messaging software
  4. Mass add friends
  5. Treat people like robots
  6. Join more than 3 Social Networks
  7. Look at people like they are $$'s
  8. Lie to people about your success
  9. Create multiple profiles
  10. Brand a company or product instead of yourself

Do's:

  1. Talk to people like PEOPLE
  2. Brand Yourself
  3. Promote product with large payout
  4. Post legitimate messages in people's profiles
  5. Build real relationships
  6. Find people with common interests
  7. Be genuine / authentic (Be Yourself)
  8. Use a Professional Bio Picture
  9. Be consistent
  10. Be available to your network

These are the rules as I see them. Now I am sure that I could think of many more, but you get the general idea here.

Tomorrow I will cover why they do and do not work...but lets hear your comments...what do you think about this list? Does it make sense to you? Have you been doing some of these things? What successes or failures have you had on social sites?

Enjoy!

Hey David,

I'm glad you don't consider yourself an "expert", because an "ex-spurt" is just a washed-up drip under pressure (*joking*)

But seriously, I really wish everyone would read this and take it to heart. I am so tired of having to delete spam messages from my page and inbox, and find that there are few groups worth joining because they all have more spammers than 'real' people (yeah, yeah, I know that spammers are people too...slimy, yucky, stupid people, but people nonetheless, but for the sake of this discussion, I'm not counting them)

Have a great day!

Hey Amy,

Thanks for that, however I do not consider myself an "expert" that is for sure. The systems that I use just happen to work is all.

I am glad that you enjoyed the class! It is great to see you there each and every week! Have a great day!

Great David, wow, what a difference this site may be if people did just what you said. A perfect world indeed. Thanks for your "pearls of wisdom".
