Hi Derrick, As a Michigan-based entrepreneur, it is ESSENTIAL that you actively support TRUE Michigan TAX REFORM in order to make capital accumulation easier to start new businesses. For too long, Michiganders have been victims of our state's legislators. Most recently, under the guise of fixing our tax system, the legislature enacted the Michigan Business Tax. Trouble is, the MBT still remains a "gross receipts" tax, levying a tax even if a business isn't profitable - which was the problem with the Single Business Tax it was designed to replace. The MBT continues to penalize entrepreneurship and productivity, and Michigan is rapidly losing businesses, jobs, and families - daily !
The Michigan FairTax plan - a movement started by working, "salt of the earth," Michiganders - is your call to action to enact a rational tax plan that will stop legislators from being able to barter our tax system to pick winners and losers (like providing "tax expenditures" for the MOVIE INDUSTRY) - all at our expense! Our goal is to SCRAP the Michigan income tax because the system is broken. Working together, you and I (there are thousands of us), can get the word out about a fairer, progressive consumption tax - the Michigan FairTax. In order to give Michigan voters the power to choose, we are laying the groundwork for a ballot drive to get the Michigan FairTax on the 2010 general election ballot.
The Michigan FairTax will both simplify, and stimulate, Michigan's business / jobs climatein a dramatic and ongoing manner. It will replace the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale) while un-taxing all purchases up to poverty level - this means no more withholding of state tax from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks.
What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size (.0975 x $ [ poverty level per family size] ). This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending. Thus, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending up to the monthly poverty level, thereafter it would be 9.75%. A reasonable average effective rate, inferred, would be about 5.5% (that's without putting anything away!) Monies placed into savings are not available to spend, and therefore would result in a further effective tax rate reduction.

Under a FairTax system, points of collection will be dramatically reduced (from millions of individuals to considerably fewer retailers, many of whom are already collecting sales tax). With a Michigan FairTax, income tax-- returns, audits, interest, and penalites vanish.
Goods prices & service fees carry income / payroll tax compliance costs - "a hidden tax," ultimately paid by us. The FairTax will externalize these costs, making them visible. Michigan exporters will then be able to jettison the FairTax, prior to shipment, making Michigan products more competitive, globally. The MI FairTax is NOT applied to non-retail, business-to-business purchases, as this inseparably embeds taxation costs in prices of finished goods and services.
This plan is revenue neutral, as it-- ends "first fruit" confiscation of wages, stops the practice of hiding consumer taxes in retail prices, makes the true cost of gov't visible, and properly pays for gov't as we meet personal and family needs. I want to say that even though there are just 11,000+ members here there is a lot more traffic rolling through here that never take the time to register as a member. That traffic will hit your website too if you interact effectively with enough people.
The main thing I personally do is jump in and put consistent activity in here at Sta.rtup.biz to grow my own network. Remember that wallflowers usually build very feeble networks.

Hi I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Nikki. I run two online businesses. DeNapoli Services, an off-site admin service that caters to Ecommerce businesses. I am assembling a small team and will be relaunching this in November.
I also have Shop Denida, this is an online store that puts creative women in the spotlight. This is my way of giving back to all the women. I have run into a small stumble on this for lack of funding. I only have 100 products up in the site and about 400 more to put in there but need to purchase a larger shopping cart first. I'm always open to advice so if anyone has any on either business I would LOVE to hear it. I'm really good at taking constructive criticism.
Along with these two business I'm a mom of 2 and a wife and of course a woman. I have many pets that I love to take care of and actually have business ideas on that too. However I have learned that one business needs to take off and run before I can start to many more.
I'm a firm believer that hard work pays off. Shop Denida has only been live since September 1st and I already have a Google ranking (albiet only a 2 but a ranking none the less) and will be learning more about internet marketing in the near future. Once I have that mastered it will be one more service that DeNapoli Services will be able to offer.
Another thing I am doing with Shop Denida is spotlighting a woman's cause. The cause I'm currently doing is the Pink Ribbon Tour. they will be having their home coming on the 26th of October and I will be gathering donations for baskets. Visitors to the home coming can enter the drawing for $5 for a chance to win one of the baskets. This will raise money for Breast cancer awareness. If you have anything you would like to donate please contact me. Donations will give you the opportunity to get some advertisement in the community. I plan on giving full credit to anyone that donates an item or something. I already have some vacations, T-shirts, pictures and a few other things. The bigger the basket the more donations. I will also be doing a jar of pink jelly beans, for a buck people will be able to guess how many in the jar and be entered into a prize drawing for another prize.
I'm very excited to be a part of this group. I plan on doing lots of networking this weekend to get donations for the prizes for the home coming.
Networking, collaborating and partnering are all things I Love to do. Please let me know how I can assist in expanding your Universe. You never know what fabulous ideas could be created from putting our minds together. I hope to chat with you someday soon.
