A Bit of Bio

Hello, Sta.rtup Friends,

We' re a husband and wife musical duo from Atlanta, Georgia. Cliff plays the instruments and Sei is the vocalist. Between us, we have released over 40 full length full CD's.

We self-produce, and distribute our music direct to our fans at a number of venues, including, the major gift shows, fine art and craft shows, expos, conventions and private events. We also wholesale our music to specialiy gift shops and boutiques and hospital gift shops.

Our motto is "if it's paying, we're playing." As a result we spend the months traveling across the country. We don't complain. We love making music, and it's even better when you're making money making music.

We have the creative side and the productive side of music-making grasped firmly in our four hands. We are always looking for opportunities to partner and/or joint venture where the sum of our music product and your product would be greater than the parts. If you have an idea that involves music CD's or music downloads please get in touch.

Don't let the "jazz" in our business name fool you. We not only create jazz, but New Age, Celtic, electronic dance, as well as music suitable for yoga instructors, spas, massage therapists and acupuncturists.

A Christmas Gift in Jacksonville

We spent a coupla days on the stage at Jacksonville Airport this past week, keeping it festive and definitely Christmasy. We keep being blessed by the people who buy our music at various events. This time was no different. Shirley came to buy the new Christmas CD - A Christmas Gift. She was meeting her sister who was coming from Canada. It had been so long since she’d seen her sister, she wondered if she would even recognize her. She mentioned almost casually that she had lost her daughter thi… Continue

Another Ad Agency Bomb

Have you heard UPS’ Christmas commercial? What advertising agency came up with this tidy little bomb. If you haven’t heard, to the tune of Jingle Bells, a group sings “Pack and Ship, Pack and Ship.” As careful as the carolers are to sound out the final “p” in “Ship. It sounds like they’re singing “packing sh*t, packing sh*t.” This could easily be a song that Scrooge might sing. This ranks up there with the misstep made by AT&T with the unintentional racist monkey commercial or the old Wend… Continue

Black Man Waves Confederate Flag

We're at the Bridgemont Center in Sevierville, TN for The Norton Shows Christmas Show. The publishers of The Knoxville Journal were giving out free copies of their newspaper. There was an article on the front page of that newspaper that caught my attention and made me say to myself, "We truly are witnessing a new day." There on that page was a picture of H. K. Edgerton, President of Southern Heritage 411. He was standing on the side of the street during the Veteran's Day Parade in Knoxville. H… Continue

RALPH NADER A PERENNIAL CANDIDATE

Since we knew we've have to go back to Atlanta from Florida to vote and then turn around and drive right back down to Florida to perform, we decided to vote early - on October 22nd. Even that early, we stood in line for two hours. I can't imagine what it's gonna be like on Election Day. I bring this up to tell you who we saw yesterday while performing at Jacksonville Airport - Ralph Nader. He stopped at the stage to tell me how smart airport management is to have live music playing. He left his… Continue

Music Giants Among Us

Here's an update from Jacksonville Airport, where we're performing this week in the atrium. If you've never flown in or out, you might be surprised to know they have a stage in the atrium. Yesterday a gentleman with the most beautiful clear gray eyes came up to the stage and we talked for a while. He was returning home to Jacksonville after having received an award in Memphis this past weekend. Turns out he was Calvin Newborn. There was something in the way he told me his name that gave me the… Continue

Nice 2 make ur acquaintance, Showtyme,
If U (or any 1 U know) would be interested in a hot romantic thriller (think James Patterson meets Zane ;o) with an intelligent Black woman as the heroine, U should check me out! Ace of Hearts, my debut novel, is getting GREAT reviews! Check them out on GoodReads or http://tiny.cc/AceofHeartsAmazonReviews
‘Ace’ was nominated 2008 Best Mystery by the African American Literary Awards Show but Walter Mosley won. To think I was up against such a literary giant still overwhelms me.
(OK, I wanted 2 win, that ‘I don’t care if I don’t win, it’s enough just 2 B nominated’ BS is just that, BS! ;o)
‘Ace’ is now an ebook available @ www.deckofcardz.com
I'm in the 1st stages of planning a new event and I'd like your input, participation, contribution &/or opinion.
I'm thinking of trying to put together a mid 2009 1-day 4 hr. 'Quadruple A' (African American Authors in Atlanta) Literary Event where authors & readers would get to mingle and buy or sell books, of course. I'm trying to recruit interested parties from several websites to participate. Thinking of a late Saturday afternoon, light hors'dourves, wine, soda & beer, preferably @ a club, coffee house or restaurant, but a community center would do.
Admission: $25 before Mar. 31st/$40 after March 31st
Authors: Admission includes 1/2 table for 2 hr. book promotion (3-5, 5-7 p.m.) ***30 Authors Max, FCFS***
Readers: Admission includes one (1) personally autographed book from the attending author of your choice.
I’m like the Eveready Bunny!! LOL
Any suggestions on where to start? Looking into Atlanta venues. Care to join me?
Peace,
Jean

Hey there Cliff and Sei...thanks for the add. I've watched your short of you playing on the riverwalk (I think)...I like your sound very much. I'd like to get a few of your tracks to play on one of my radio shows (do a weekly morning show on on tha move radio and one hour a week on WINR Smooth Jazz). I am tinkering with ideas of how to make money with music as well (have a network of musicians that I'm working with from Cinninnatti to Atlanta). I hope all is well with the both of you, and, that I hear back from you soon...moble
